Seeing a dentist or optician in China: English-speaking clinics, prices and same-day glasses
✅ Updated May 2026
Dental care in China is widely available and generally affordable, and you usually do not need a referral — book directly by phone, by app, or simply walk in for a cleaning, filling, or check-up. Private dental chains such as Arrail (瑞尔) and BYBO have English-speaking dentists and offer good value for routine work; international clinics cost more but are the easiest option if you speak no Chinese. Routine dental care is often not covered by basic insurance, so ask about prices in advance. For glasses, optical shops and eyewear markets give a free eye test on the spot and make lenses in an hour or two — far cheaper than back home. Bring your prescription if you have one.
