Who pays the bill (请客)
✅ Updated May 2026
Whoever invites usually pays — fighting to pay the bill is a genuine sign of generosity and face, not a formality. Offer to pay, but do not be surprised if the host insists firmly; graciously letting them treat you is fine, and you reciprocate next time. Splitting the bill (AA制) is common among young friends, less so when one person clearly hosts.
