Mid-Autumn Festival celebrates the full harvest moon with family reunions and mooncakes (月饼) — dense pastries filled with lotus paste, red bean, or salted egg yolk. People gather to admire the moon and give mooncakes as gifts. It falls in September or October and is a public holiday.
