Getting a residence permit
✅ Updated May 2026
If you are staying long-term to work (Z visa) or study (X1 visa), you convert your entry visa into a residence permit within 30 days of arriving — this becomes your legal status and lets you enter and leave the country freely. Your employer or university usually guides the process at the Exit-Entry Bureau. Common documents are your passport, visa, photos, a medical check from an approved clinic, police registration, and proof of employment or enrollment. The permit is a sticker placed in your passport, valid for the length of your job or studies.
